Pacific Northwest Budo Association

A federal 501c3 non-profit charitable organization

Pacific Northwest Budo Association supports Northwest arts organizations, schools, clubs, teachers and students of traditional and modern Japanese martial and cultural arts.  We subscribe to the Budo Charter of the Nippon Budukan Foundation, Tokyo, Japan.  Some of the Budo arts include Judo, Kendo, Kyudo, Karatedo, Sumo, Aikido, Shorinji Kempo, Naginatado, and Jukendo.  Cultural arts (Bundo) include Shodo, Kado, Chado, Origami, and many others.


PNBA Board of Directors

We are an all-volunteer membership organization governed by a Board of Directors, and managed by an Executive Director.  Board Directors are elected by the membership at an annual meeting and serve two-year terms.

Jonathan Bannister, PhD, MaDSc honorary

Aikido Shihan, Iaido 5th Dan, and practitioner of Kyudo, Kado, and Bonsai, Dr. Bannister authored Shodo Brush Calligraphy: From Simple Fun to True Self-Mastery (2011 AiShinKai Publications and Amazon).  He has served on the PNBA Board since 2003.
